Description

The Bitossi Portaombrelli is a tall, cylindrical ceramic umbrella stand designed by Aldo Londi for the Rimini Blu collection.

Standing at 50cm in height, its clean vertical form is wrapped in engraved stencil motifs—geometric and abstract patterns that create a dense, tactile surface. The vivid turquoise glaze, layered over hand-brushed cobalt accents, enhances the texture and gives the piece a luminous quality that shifts with the light. Its scale and presence make it both a functional object and a sculptural statement, rooted in the coastal inspiration of the 1950s Italian Riviera.

Each Portaombrelli is handcrafted in Montelupo, Italy, using the same techniques developed by Londi in the mid-20th century. The decoration is applied while the clay is still soft, then glazed and fired to reveal the full depth of colour and detail. This reissue continues a celebrated tradition of Italian ceramic artistry.
