Bio-acetate frames are made by mixing cellulose acetate with a new kind of plasticiser, making them biodegradable to help reduce the environmental impact. Ray-Ban's bio-based nylon frames are made of at least 57% bio-based content, replacing fossil-based materials with renewable sources like caster oil. Ray-Ban uses bio-based nylon lenses composed of at least 40% biological content from renewable sources like castor oil to make their sunglasses more sustainable.
