In our drive to encourage retailers and consumers to exclusively buy eco-conscious products, we have curated a Top 10 list of Organic and or Biodynamic* Rosé wines. After all it's coming up to that time of year!
This is not an easy feat, as wine preference is down personal taste. However, Provence, France specifically AOP** Côtes de Provence is widely considered the best and most iconic region for rosé wine. It basically sets the global standard for dry, pale, and aromatic styles. So unsurprisingly the majority of our selected wines are from that region.
Xavier Thuizat is widely regarded as one of France's best sommeliers, he's Head Sommelier at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and shares his key rosé insights and recommendations:
- Pairing Philosophy: Rosé should be paired by isolating the wine's aromatic characteristics (acidity, tannins, alcohol) against the food's structure, allowing it to elevate dishes beyond just aperitifs.
- The "Summer" Approach: While specific vintage recommendations change, Thuizat advocates for Provençal rosés that exhibit finesse, bright citrus notes, and structured palates capable of matching complex summer dishes.
- Style Preference: He often leans towards wines that represent strong craftsmanship, such as those produced by notable figures in the industry.
- Context: He notes rosé's immense growth and importance, noting its equal standing with Champagne in luxury, Parisian, hotel settings

Organic wine is not considered "healthier" in a medicinal sense, as it is still alcohol, but research indicates it may be better for you than conventional wine due to lower levels of pesticide residues, fewer chemical additives, and lower maximum sulphite limits.
One EU study found traces of 24 different pesticide contaminants in non-organic wines – five of which were linked to cancer or hormone disruption.
While evidence for major health benefits is limited, Organic wine offers reduced exposure to toxins and growing wine organically is certainly better for the local environment and helps to maintain biodiversity.
So there you have it!... Santé!...Cheers!
