We carefully curate and rate Luxury eco-conscious products for you and your home.
So what do we mean by the words "Luxury Products"? For us Luxury is not always the preserve of the wealthy and does not always mean products carrying high prices.
Luxury is often defined has having 3 tiers:
- Standard or Accessible Luxury which is afforded by the top 5%-10% of income earners,
- High Luxury or Intermediate Luxury which is afforded by the top 1% of income earners and
- Ultra Luxury or Inaccessible Luxury which is afforded to the top 0.1% of income earners.
Some of our lovely luxury products are discrete, in that they're not in your face luxury branded products - 'quiet luxury'. Luxury products which cater for a particular regular clientele can be described as 'niche luxury'. An avant garde jewellery designer is a good example.
But crucially for us, being luxurious is nothing, if the product does not have a leaning towards being eco-conscious. In fact we'd go so far as to day that we really think that no-one should by a luxury product without thinking about, or asking about, the steps the brand is taking to minimise its environmental impact.
A crocodile-skin bag for us is an absolute no and is in no way luxurious. To cage a crocodile in solitude for 5 years and then kill it for its skin is not luxurious and customers who would buy a new crocodile-skin bag are basically tasteless and ignorant.
Whereas a leather bag which is a by-product of the food industry and is made under the Leather Working Group's guidelines is acceptable. (obviously plant based leather solutions where crocodile skin textures are impressed in the fabric are even better)
Furthermore for us a luxurious product is one that you will use again and again and hopefully for life. 'Buy once, buy well' is a good mantra to follow.
We have hundreds of products on Ateliers Verts which fit into the eco-conscious luxury market segment, so it's been very hard to select 10, but we've managed to chose these 10 alternative products just to be different!:
