Denby, have been crafting versatile, beautiful and durable made-to-last ceramics for over 200 years on the same site in Derbyshire, England, always subscribing to the ethos of 'buy well, buy once'. They're first UK tableware manufacturer to be able to claim ‘zero to landfill’ for all our process waste. In addition, they employ an Environmental Officer to ensure that Denby is constantly looking at ways to improve their sustainable approach.
MINIMAL TRANSPORTATION: Denby uses clay from the doorstep enabling minimal transportation of our main raw material.
RECYCLED GLAZE, CLAY, WATER & FOOD: Every year Denby recycles over 100,000 litres of glaze, 550 tonnes of raw clay, 20 million litres of process water & their food waste from their restaurants and the staff canteen, which is turned into energy.
RECYCLABLE PACKAGING: Most Denby is sold without packaging, but where it is requested by customers it is recyclable. Any incoming packaging is recycled and has been sourced responsibly.
ENERGY CONSUMPTION: They continuously watch their energy consumption, with their gas and energy consumption reduced year on year. They have installed a 2 MW solar array just behind their pottery which will help them reduce their CO2 emissions by 475 tonnes each year. The solar park is already supplying a good proportion of their electricity needs around the pottery and their site. Their solar park is one of the many initiatives underway on their pathway to 'Net Zero 2050'.
MADE TO LAST: One set can be used everyday and for special occasions, indoors and out, and is safe for use in the oven, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. You can confidently use it to cook, serve and store food, when you might otherwise have used a disposable plate or cup.
